On October 22, Zhao Long, Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, met in Fuzhou with Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, and his delegation.

On behalf of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and the People's Government of Fujian Province, Zhao Long welcomed Sheikh Saud and his delegation on their visit to Fujian, and gave a brief overview of Fujian's high-quality economic and social development. He noted that the friendship between the peoples of China and the UAE dates back to ancient times. President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the development of China-UAE relations and has met with UAE leaders on multiple occasions, charting the course for building a more solid, resilient and vibrant China-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership. Zhao Long expressed confidence that, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-UAE relations will enjoy sound and stable development, and subnational friendly exchanges between the two countries will make shared progress toward a brighter future. Currently, Fujian is thoroughly studying and implementing the guiding principles from President Xi Jinping's important speeches, instructions and directives on Fujian's work, further comprehensively deepening reform, expanding high-standard opening up, and advancing high-quality development on all fronts. He expressed the hope that, taking the twinning as an opportunity, both sides will consolidate the foundations of friendship, continue to deepen cooperation in areas such as high-tech, trade, investment, culture and education, advance people-to-people exchanges, enable the traditional friendship to bear more fruit, and contribute to the sustained, sound and stable development of China-UAE relations.

Sheikh Saud expressed appreciation for Fujian's warm hospitality. He said that the peoples of China and the UAE have enjoyed enduring friendship. In recent years, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujian have achieved remarkable progress in friendly relations, cooperation and exchanges, and enjoy boundless prospects for the future. Poised for a new start, he looked forward to further deepening mutual understanding and mutual trust, and expanding cooperation in areas such as people-to-people exchanges, culture, tourism, trade and investment, for mutual benefit, win-win results and common prosperity, so that the tree of friendship will grow ever more luxuriant and flourish into a vast forest.

After the meeting, Fujian and Ras Al Khaimah signed an agreement on establishing friendly relations between Fujian Province and the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.

Provincial leaders Wu Xielin and Zhao Zenglian attended the meeting.
