A delegation led by Tam Vai Man, secretary for Transport and Public Works of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR), visited Fuzhou in Fujian province from July 17 to 19 to learn about the city's approach to urban renewal, old district redevelopment, neighborhood renovation, and the revitalization of historic areas. Tam said Fuzhou's experience in urban renewal and historic district conservation could serve as a reference for Macao's redevelopment efforts.

At the Yantaishan historical block, the delegation reviewed the area's redevelopment, including coordinated land acquisition, resident relocation, and the restoration and adaptive reuse of historic buildings. Officials highlighted the transformation of the former commercial port district into a popular cultural and tourism destination.

The delegation also visited the Shangxiahang cultural historical block, where they were briefed on preservation and restoration efforts in one of the birthplaces of Fujian business culture. Discussions covered compensation and resettlement arrangements for relocated residents, as well as Fuzhou's incremental renewal model, which emphasizes small-scale, phased, and minimally disruptive redevelopment.

At Sanfang Qixiang, the historic district of the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys, the visitors viewed an exhibition on conservation achievements and learned about Fuzhou's approach to protecting its traditional residential architecture. Officials and experts briefed the delegation on urban renewal projects and historic district conservation.
