A delegation of 10 youths from Fiji completed a six-day Austronesian cultural workshop in East China's Fujian province on May 24.

Hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Fujian Province, the workshop ran from May 19 to 24, covering Pingtan county and the cities of Fuzhou and Quanzhou.

In Fuzhou, the group visited the Austronesian exhibition hall at the Fujian University of Technology with students from Austronesian-speaking regions, including Malaysia and Thailand. They also toured the National Engineering Research Center of Juncao Technology at Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, where they were briefed on international cooperation and the application of Juncao technology in Fiji.

The delegation's stop in Pingtan focused on visiting the Keqiutou Site Museum, which charts the history and expansion of the Austronesian language family.

The visit concluded in Quanzhou, where the delegation met with students from Pacific Island countries at Quanzhou Normal University and tried out maritime equipment, Chinese calligraphy, and the guqin (a seven-stringed Chinese zither).
