Fujian emerged as a leader at the 2025 Ecological Civilization Forum on Dec 25, receiving nine recognitions from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, which announced the latest ecological civilization demonstration zones and "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" practice innovation bases.

Fujian's newly designated ecological civilization demonstration zones are Putian's Xianyou county, Quanzhou's Jinjiang city and Zhenghe county, Nanping's Jian'ou city, and Longyan's Liancheng county. Additionally, Fuzhou's Jin'an district, Xiamen Island, Quanzhou's Anxi county, and Nanping's Guangze county were named as practice innovation bases. This brings Fujian's total to 49 ecological zones and 13 practice innovation bases, making it a national leader.

Fujian has consistently advanced its efforts to build an eco-friendly province, focusing on demonstration projects to drive ecological progress and forging a holistic protection and governance framework spanning from mountain peaks to the ocean.

These achievements underscore Fujian's dedication to sustainable development and its role as a national ecological pilot zone.

Xiamen Island, a pioneer in ecological civilization demonstration zones, was again recognized as a "lucid waters and lush mountainsare invaluable assets" base. With Zhenghe county and Jian'ou city also honored, Nanping has achieved full coverage as an ecological civilization demonstration zone. Only five prefecture-level cities nationwide have attained such recognition, with two in Fujian.
