Silk Road Film Festival hosts cross-Strait young filmmakers exchange

The cross-Strait young filmmakers exchange was held in Fuzhou in East China's Fujian province on Sept 24.

For the first time, the Silk Road International Film Festival featured a dedicated cross-Strait film section. It hosted a cross-Strait AI short film competition, the showcase of selected Taiwan film projects and film screenings and promoted copyright licensing and agreements.

The event presented the results and awards of the cross-Strait AI short film competition. Several cross-Strait film initiatives reached on-site agreements with production companies.

In addition, leading Taiwan director, Clark Lee, shared insights on integrating AI into early-stage film production.

Concurrent roundtable discussions brought together industry leaders, including Liu Wei, final judge of the AI short film competition, and Taiwan director Hong Chengchang. They discussed co-production, talent cultivation, and market collaboration under the growing trend of cross-Strait integration.

A Taiwan film and TV series window was established to provide one-stop support for Taiwan film professionals working in Fujian province and offer policy guidance to strengthen the foundations of regular cross-Strait industry cooperation.

This year's festival received over 50 feature films and more than 100 AI short films from Taiwan. Five films were screened across the province. Eight film projects were specially showcased and four copyright agreements were signed, with a total transaction value exceeding 50 million yuan ($7 million).
