Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport core area

General information

Located on Dadeng Island in Xiang'an district of Xiamen, Fujian province, the core area of Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport covers a planned land area of 21.37 square kilometers. It is a major international airport in China, a regional hub, and a key gateway for cross-Strait exchanges. The site integrates the new terminal area, working zones, cargo areas, maintenance facilities, and the Xiamen Airport Comprehensive Bonded Zone.

Terminal area and facilities

The current phase includes the construction of Terminal 1 (about 550,000 square meters), as well as the North Runway (ICAO Code 4F) and South Runway (ICAO Code 4E). Equipped with 195 aircraft stands, the terminal is designed to accommodate 45 million passengers, 750,000 metric tons of cargo and mail, and 380,000 flights per year.

Intermodal transportation system

The airport has developed an integrated rail transit network to ensure efficient and seamless passenger distribution. The system comprises Metro Line 3, Metro Line 4, and the Quanzhou-Xiamen-Zhangzhou Intercity Railway Line R1. Metro Line 3 provides a 59-minute connection between Xiamen Railway Station and the airport, while Metro Line 4 reduces travel time between Xiamen North Railway Station and the airport to about 30 minutes. The Intercity Railway R1 Line serves the broader Southwestern Fujian regional cooperation area, strengthening multimodal integration and enhancing airport accessibility across the regional urban network.
