Fujian province and the Brazilian state of Ceara marked 25 years of friendly relations with a series of cultural, sports, and educational exchanges from Aug 1 to 9.

An arts and soccer delegation from Ceara led by Roseane Medeiros, secretary of International Relations of the State of Ceara, visited Fujian for concerts, a youth futsal tournament, institutional cooperation, and cultural and tourism activities.

Fujian and Ceara musicians staged three joint concerts in Fuzhou and Quanzhou, with Brazilian tambourines and flutes playing alongside the guqin (a seven-stringed zither) at a waterside theater in Fuzhou's downtown tourism hotspot Sanfang Qixiang.

The IFCE team of Ceara won the 2026 Fujian International Friendship Cities Youth Futsal Tournament in Fuzhou after five rounds of competition from Aug 3 to 9, with its players also winning three individual awards for best player, top scorer, and best goalkeeper.

Fujian Arts Vocational College and Quanzhou Arts School exchanged views with their Ceara counterparts on vocational education. Fujian Arts Vocational College and the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Ceara (IFCE) signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a cooperative relationship, bringing the number of higher-education and vocational-education partnerships between Fujian and Ceara to four.
