Taimu Mountain National Scenic Area has been famed as "the great landscape of mountains and seas". It is located in the northeastern part of Fujian province, within the borders of Fuding city.

Standing on the coast of the East China Sea, it is surrounded by the sea on three sides and backed by mountains on the fourth, presenting a majestic and awe-inspiring landscape. The area is renowned for its unique and varied rock formations, with bizarre stones and peaks creating a spectacular and distinctive type of scenery.

Legend has it that divine beings in the East China Sea came to Taimu Mountain for regular meetings, earning it another name "the Olympus on the sea".
