Fujian province is developing a modern marine industry covering fisheries, ports and shipping, marine equipment manufacturing, offshore renewable energy, and marine biomedicine, while upgrading its industrial chains toward higher-value segments.
Fujian's marine equipment sector has delivered a series of large-scale projects in recent years, highlighting the province's growing capacity to build advanced vessels and offshore equipment. A 26-megawatt offshore wind turbine, the world's largest of its kind, was manufactured in Fuqing. Construction began in Fujian on China's largest 17,200-metric-ton Antarctic krill fishing vessel, while the 18,000-metric-ton marine engineering vessel Huaxia Dejing 108, the world's first of its kind, was delivered to a Fujian company.
The province is also an important marine aquaculture base in China, with large yellow croaker, abalone, kelp, and sea cucumber among its signature products.

Modern offshore aquaculture platforms are becoming more prevalent in areas including Ningde's Sandu'ao, Xiapu county, and Lianjiang county. Technologies such as intelligent feeding systems, environmental monitoring, and automated net lifting are widely used, helping traditional fisheries shift toward modern marine ranching.
The province is also developing the full aquaculture supply chain, covering breeding, farming, processing, sales, and cold-chain logistics. The integrated system is supplying more seafood to consumers and helping Fujian's marine products reach international markets.
