Flight MF892, carrying 169 passengers, landed at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport on June 12. This marks a milestone for Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, as the number of passengers traveling to and from Belt and Road Initiative partner countries has exceeded one million this year, achieving this target 34 days earlier than in 2024.
Xiamen Customs has continuously optimized clearance services to support the launch and resumption of multiple international passenger and cargo routes at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport. The airport has now established an international and regional route network covering Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania, with a total of 41 routes.
On Feb 14, Xiamen Airport launched China's first direct international passenger flight to Timor-Leste. The airport currently operates 15 direct passenger routes to 11 Belt and Road Initiative partner countries, including the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia, along with six dedicated cargo routes.
From January to May, Xiamen Airport handled 6,654 round-trip flights to Belt and Road countries, a 21.69-percent year-on-year increase, averaging 333 weekly flights. These efficient and convenient "air silk roads" demonstrate Xiamen's concrete contributions to the Belt and Road Initiative.
