Fujian, Philippine Experts Share COVID-19 Treatment Expertise

On May 20, medical experts from Fujian Provincial Hospital shared their experience on COVID-19 diagnosis and treatment via a video conference with their counterparts from Southern Philippine Medical Center (SPMC) of Davao.

During the two-hour session, nearly 50 experts from the two sides exchanged ideas on the clinical manifestations, as well as prevention, diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 and had an in-depth discussion on two cases in Davao.

The event was jointly hosted by Fujian Province and the Consulate-General of China in Davao.

Li Lin, Chinese Consul-General in Davao, said in his opening remarks that the online session would play an active role in improving the cooperation between Fujian and the Philippines on epidemic prevention and control. In April, Fujian sent a medical team and brought urgently needed medical supplies to the Philippines.

Dr. Leopoldo Vega, Director of SPMC, said that China and the Philippines, as friends in Asia, are altogether to combat COVID-19, and expressed his appreciation to Fujian for sending PPEs in this time of crisis.

Chen Chuxin, Deputy Director-General of Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Offices, and Dr. Zhu Pengli, President of Fujian Provincial Hospital, also spoke at the conference.
