Xi Jinping, who served as Party secretary of Fuzhou from 1990 to 1996, championed a series of measures to preserve it — from securing stable funding for theater troupes to establishing a dedicated training school. Today, thanks to decades of sustained efforts, the ancient art form has found new life and continues to inspire new generations.
