On September 22, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Governor of Fujian Province Zhao Long met in Fuzhou with the delegation attending the 14th Viet Nam-China People’s Forum. Dong Huy Cuong, Vice President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, Yang Wanming, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and other Fujian provincial leaders Wu Xielin and Jiang Erxiong attended the meeting. 

Zhao welcomed the delegation on behalf of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and the Fujian Provincial Government, and expressed gratitude for their longstanding efforts to promote China-Viet Nam friendship and deepen sub-national exchanges and cooperation between Fujian and Viet Nam. 

Zhao noted that General Secretary Xi Jinping has always attached great importance to the development of China-Viet Nam relations. This April, General Secretary Xi held important talks in Beijing with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee and President of Viet Nam To Lam. The two leaders reached the important common understanding on accelerating the building of a  more substantive China-Viet Nam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, charting the course for deepening sub-national exchanges and cooperation. 

Zhao said that, as an important breeding ground and a place of practice for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Fujian is fully implementing the guiding principles of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and instructions, and striving to play a pioneering role in Chinese modernization. 

Zhao expressed the hope that both sides will take this forum as an opportunity to act on the important common understanding reached by the top leaders of the two parties and two countries, continuously deepen economic and trade cooperation, cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and mutual learning, and contribute more to helping the tree of China-Viet Nam friendship flourish and bear fruit.
