A 10-member delegation of Fijian traditional leaders concluded a five-day visit to Fujian province on Sept 18, exploring local practices in poverty alleviation and rural vitalization, as well as bilateral exchange.

The delegation focused its itinerary on Fujian's practices in economic development and poverty alleviation. In Fuzhou, delegates met with Huang Shaorong, deputy director-general of Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, and visited the National Engineering Research Center of Juncao Technology at Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University. Discussions focused on assessing the feasibility of introducing and applying Juncao technology in Fiji to support local agriculture and poverty alleviation efforts.

Visits to Ningde and Pingtan gave the delegation a closer look at rural development practices and the region's history and culture. In Ningde, the group studied small-scale aquaculture practices, fruit and vegetable industries, and relocation efforts that helped local boat-dwelling fishermen lift themselves out of poverty, alongside a tour of SAIC Motor's new energy vehicle base.

In Pingtan, the group visited the Keqiutou Site Museum to learn about the origins of the Austronesian language family and how the area integrates culture and tourism.

Delegation members noted that the visit provided insights into poverty alleviation and established a foundation for future bilateral cooperation in technology and agriculture.
