Guo Ningning Meets with Canadian Consul General

Guo Ningning, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Executive Vice Governor of Fujian Province, met with Behzad Babakhani, Canadian Consul General in Guangzhou on November 21.

Guo Ningning gave an overview of Fujian’s historical, cultural and ecological features, as well as its latest economic and social progress to the newly appointed Consul General. The Vice Governor emphasized the mutually beneficial relations between Fujian and Canada, highlighting the strong ties with its sister province, Nova Scotia. Building on past successes and economic complementarities, she said, both sides can come closer together for further cooperation in trade, tourism, and sister relations.

Behzad Babakhani underlined Fujian’s pivotal role in boosting two-way trade between China and Canada, noting the strong connection between the Fujianese community in Canada and Fujian. The Consul General expressed hope for increased mutual visits and travels.

In his three-day trip, Behzad Babakhani also had talks with Vice Mayor of Xiamen City and officials from provincial authorities, including the Foreign Affairs Office, and the Development and Reform Commission.
