On July 14, in Fuzhou, Mr. Wang Tianming, Director General of Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, met Mr. Gustanto, Indonesian Consul General in Guangzhou, who had come to Fujian to bid farewell.

Mr. Wang warmly welcomed the guests and briefed them on recent bilateral high-level exchanges and the progress made in the “Two Countries, Twin Parks” cooperation project. Mr. Wang reviewed the long history of Fujian’s close ties with Indonesia and reaffirmed Fujian’s commitment to broaden friendly exchanges and launch major cooperation projects. Mr. Wang thanked Mr. Gustanto for all his efforts, during his tenure, to facilitate bilateral exchanges and cooperation across various fields. Mr. Wang also expressed hope of booming two-way investment for mutually beneficial cooperation. To conclude, the Director General said that in light of recent Covid-19 surges in Indonesia, Fujian will mobilize resources and donate anti-epidemic medical materials in an ongoing effort to help Indonesia fight against the epidemic.

Consul General Gustanto recognized the long-running historical and cultural ties between Fujian and Indonesia, and applauded the fruitful achievements scored in bilateral high-level interactions, trade cooperation and sister city exchanges, underscoring FAO’s role in this regard. Mr. Gustanto expressed his gratitude to FAO for its support to his work, and acknowledged the generous help from China for the Covid-19 response in Indonesia. He said that since the outbreak of the pandemic, Fujian has made several donations to Indonesia. Looking into the future, he hoped to see stronger bilateral cooperation in fields such as sister cities, fishery, infrastructure, trade, investment, culture, education and tourism.
