The 2nd ASEAN-Fujian Youth Forum on Communication and Cooperation Held Online
The 2nd ASEAN-Fujian Youth Forum on Communication and Cooperation was held online on May 31 in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of China-ASEAN Dialogue Relations.
Co-organized by Fujian Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Fujian Youth Federation, the Forum, via video links, brought together 25 youth delegates from Fujian and 10 ASEAN countries in joint discussions of friendship and cooperation.
Chen Chuxin, Deputy Director General of Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, and Yang Yi, President of Fujian Youth Federation attended the Forum on behalf of the organizers.
In his opening remarks, Yang Yi highlighted the solid foundations and promising prospects for further bilateral cooperation, and called on the young people to renew friendship and contribute to a better tomorrow.
Dr. Ei Sun OH, Senior Fellow of Singapore Institute of International Affairs and Principal Adviser for Pacific Research Center of Malaysia, addressed the Forum as the representative of ASEAN youth. He started with congratulations on the centenary of the founding of the CPC and China’s eradication of abject poverty. After a review of historical ties, he briefed participants on current economic and people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between China and ASEAN. His remarks concluded with high hopes for enhanced educational cooperation and loosened visa requirements among RCEP member states, especially between China and ASEAN countries.
Covering 3 topics, including: (1) in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of China-ASEAN Dialogue Relations; (2) history is the best textbook; (3) ASEAN-Fujian youth cooperation on entrepreneurship and innovation, the Forum is highly relevant to current domestic and international landscape. In an amicable atmosphere, youth delegates championed China-ASEAN friendly cooperation, shared their stories and insights, and enhanced mutual understandings and bonds.
