Fujian and Eastern Highlands Celebrate 20th Anniversary of Twinning

An online celebration was held on November 11 to mark the 20th anniversary of the sister province relationship between Fujian and Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea.

Ambassadors, provincial leaders and experts from both sides participated in the event, reviewing the achievements both have made over the past two decades and looking into the future of bilateral cooperation.

Yu Weiguo, Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, highlighted the progress of bilateral ties over the years and laid out proposals for even closer exchanges and cooperation. Peter Numu, Governor of Eastern Highlands Province, expressed hopes for the two provinces to deepen practical cooperation in such areas as agriculture, infrastructure, trade and education.

During the online activity, a five-year cooperative agreement was signed to further promote the Juncao and upland rice technologies in Eastern Highlands and bilateral cooperation in industrial capacity and people-to-people exchanges.
