A 10-member Australian think-tank and media delegation headed by Mr. Philip Ruddock, Chair of the Advisory Board of the Australia-China Relations Institute (ACRI) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), visited Fujian. The visit was an agreement by Director-General Wang Tianmin and former Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr during the latters visit to Fujian last September.

On 1 August, Deputy Director-General Li Lin met with the delegation in Fuzhou. He reviewed Fujian-Tasmania sister relationship, briefed them on the economic cooperation between Fujian and Australia, and took questions concerning the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as Fujians development under the Initiative.

Mr. Li said that Fujian, with full-fledged infrastructure and sound momentum of economic growth, is now at the best time of its development. The province is committed to building the core area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and the Pilot Free Trade Zone. Meanwhile, emphasis is also given to ecological conservation. He encouraged the delegation to have a closer look at Fujians economy, society and culture during this visit, and bring home news about Fujian to increase Australian peoples awareness about the province.

The delegation consists of scholars, columnists and journalists from the ACRI at UTS, Australian Associated Press, Fairfax Media, Australian Financial Review, The Sunday Times, The West Australian, Courier Mail, and Adelaide Advertiser.
